Our main focus is to provide a fun and relaxed environment for all players. Any behavior deemed unacceptable by our staff may result in forfeiture, player ejection from a game, league or facility.
League Registration Basics
All captains are responsible for knowing the rules and making sure the team understands the rules. To guarantee league placement, payment and registration forms are due by the deadlines for each session.
All players are required to fill out the roster waiver form which will be provided first night of play. 2nd night choice on registration will be used if 1st option is full. Leagues are based on demand and some leagues may not fill up completely and teams may be combined into "Any" leagues. (i.e. various skills playing coed together). We'll do our best to accommodate your team. *4 teams are needed to start a league. Max subs for 4's is 6 and max subs for 5's is 8 players.
How much does it cost to play?
League fees vary based, see league signup page | Late registration fee of $50 may apply.
Annual Membership - $25 for all new players. Returning players $25 if enrolled in auto pay (cards are kept on file with encrypted security; this card can also be used for weekly purchases at the tiki bar). Annual Membership is a seasonal sports membership and expires December 31st each year. Membership renewal for recurring billing occurs in January each year. If not enrolled in auto pay payment can be made online each January for $25 if paid by 1/31. Fees increase to $50 for late renewals. Membership form is required to get a membership card to access club.
What do I get with my membership? Access to the club, free open play for league players on available courts during regular business hours. League players get discounts on court rentals and special events, discounts or specials from our sponsors offered periodically.
Free Agents - $75 (includes first session and annual membership; $50 each session thereafter.
What is a free agent? A free agent is a player without a team and is allowed to play on different teams until he or she finds the right team.
Uniforms & equipment
Athletic attire must be worn at all times (i.e. gym clothes, tank tops, tee shirts, athletic shorts, beach volleyball gear, etc). It is forbidden to wear any items that may cause injury to another player. (no jewelry, shoes, boots, jeans, casts, hard metal objects, etc). Players may wear hats, visors and sunglasses at their own risk and other beach volleyball gear. Volleyballs are provided to captains at check-in each week. Lost balls are $75.
What's the minimum female players on a team?
A minimum of 2 females must be playing at all times.
How old do I have to be to play?
League players and free agents must be 18+ years old to play and be on the courts, including court rentals. Exceptions to this rule may be granted by management in its sole discretion. Must have a valid drivers license to verify age. If under the age of 18 a parent/guardian will have to sign a waiver form in order to play and become a club player.
How critical are skill levels?
Skill levels are very critical. Should a team join a league that is too weak or too strong, Mako Beach staff may request that your team be moved to a league that better suits level of play. New leagues may form based on demand and skill level. Prizes vary for winning league championship. Rosters with players playing in the wrong skill level will be excluded from winning league prizes.
Do you accept checks or cash?
We accept cash, checks or credit cards.
What is the process to join a league?
Captains book a spot in league with our online registration form and pay the league fee. Captains receive free t-shirt if team is registered and paid in full by the deadline. (excludes discounted leagues). Shirts are available first two weeks of the league. Each player on the newly formed team must become a member. All players must sign the roster waiver form provided on first night of play. It's the duty of the captain to fill a team each week. If you don't see a league that meets your needs contact us at and we'll try to find a spot for you.
Additional info for league registration and events:
All payments will be processed immediately. All sign ups must be accompanied with team registration form and full payment in order to secure spot in league. No refunds within two weeks from the start of league play. No refunds for membership or tournament fees. Registration fees increase $50 within 10 days of start date. $25 fee for each schedule change and/or league processing fees in the event of captain errors on team registration form. No-show fees apply for not showing up to play. Switching leagues schedule change fees apply. Processing fees apply to any refunds. We have a late registration policy in place to avoid last minute registrations which is often unmanageable. With teams registered by the deadline we can ensure leagues will start smoothly benefiting all teams preregistered.
